Accra Becoming.
In 2018, I filmed nine Ghanaian creatives and asked them about money, family, community, and what they believed their art was actually for. Then I sat on the footage for eight years.
Last year, with support from Africa No Filter’s StoryLab grant, I went back and asked the same questions.
Accra Becoming is a longitudinal documentary: two sets of interviews, eight years apart, the same nine people. Its first half belongs to the archive. Its second half belongs to the present. Same questions. Different answers. Maybe.
The nine subjects are Ama Asantewa Diaka, Benewah Boateng, Hanson Akatti, Hassan Salih, Elisabeth Sutherland, Joey Chase, Ato Annan, Sway Kidd, and Keyzuz.
